Gianni Cortese's Floral Design Workshops for Retailers at Milano Home 2025
Gianni Cortese is a multifaceted artist. As a Floral Designer, he elaborates the entire creative process, realizing compositions that enrich and enhance homes, showrooms, weddings, and corporate events.
Gianni Cortese's story is one of passion and love for flowers. An internationally renowned Floral Designer, the sole Italian ambassador for OASIS® Floralife, a leading company in the floral materials sector, and a Master of Floral Art, he boasts 25 years of experience.
Originally from Lamezia Terme, Calabria, Cortese has shown an immense passion for plants and flowers since childhood.
“In 2000, I attended a florist course, and later I deepened my knowledge of floral art until I obtained a teaching certificate. Following Peter Hess's Floral Designer path in Basel, I delved into the use of various materials (paper, wax, and iron), studying in depth the style, shapes, colors, and design of compositions, also dealing with Land Art, an artistic current where the designer intervenes not in artificially created spaces but directly on natural matter, respecting its life cycle”.
Cortese graduated from the Academy of Floral Art and Design and opened an academy in Naples and Reggio Emilia.
Artificial plants and flowers have become increasingly ubiquitous as home decor, both in Italy and abroad. From elaborate floral arrangements to simple garlands, the Calabrian artist has been instrumental in revitalizing this segment, elevating artificial flowers from the sidelines to a sought-after design element. Today, Gianni Cortese is a leading floral designer, renowned for his work in showrooms, weddings, and private residences. He is also a sought-after educator, brand ambassador for prestigious companies, and a frequent demonstrator at industry events.
“Artificial flowers bring a touch of nature into homes and offices. Meticulously crafted, each piece is a testament to skilled artistry. With today's high-quality materials, our products meet the demand for sophisticated home decor that exudes both harmony and simplicity."
What specific characteristics make artificial flowers ideal for home decor?
"Firstly, their durability. When made with high-quality materials and carefully crafted, artificial flowers are a decorative element that enhances any home. Additionally, there are other advantages related to their maintenance: they don't need watering or pruning, and they are not affected by temperature changes. Lastly, there's no risk of allergic reactions."
"From homes to weddings, from ceremonies to all kinds of events, the demand for this product is increasing."
What is the relationship of young people with artificial flowers?
"I'd say it's great. There's no prejudice against them; in fact, younger generations really appreciate artificial flowers and plants. The ability to configure different styles and their suitability for various settings increase the product's potential. From homes to weddings, from ceremonies to all kinds of events, it's a product that has carved out a significant space for itself. Even over-the-counter sales are doing well with pre-arranged bouquets, which are becoming increasingly popular."
"Despite the skepticism that surrounded artificial flowers for a long time, the market has finally recognized the specific characteristics of a sector that offers a wide range of designs, from traditional to modern. Diverse proposals and solutions that can enhance the home environment thanks to the suggestions of Floral Designers."
In addition to being appreciated for the quality of the raw materials and the originality of his creations, Cortese pays great attention to sustainability.
Customers are increasingly attentive to environmental issues. I use 100% biodegradable, non-plastic vases, and fabrics are selected based on their visual impact while also meeting strict sustainability criteria."
How important is the world of home and furnishings to you?
"It represents a significant part of my work. As mentioned, artificial flowers and plants are a key element in designing a comfortable and elegant environment. Textures in design are crucial, and the choice of materials and colors - bright, warm, neutral - is a process that requires great attention in order to achieve a design that integrates perfectly with existing furnishings.
Choosing the right products is akin to assembling a puzzle. Each piece must complement the overall picture in harmony with the client's vision. I provide guidance, suggesting various styles and combinations that I believe would be most suitable. While it can be challenging to reconcile differing preferences, such as a Provençal versus a country style, the language of flowers often offers a universal means of expression, allowing us to find a common ground."
