"For this reason, we have always offered furnishings and accessories that go beyond the trends of the moment, to write the story of a life and become an integral part of everyday life." Milano Home meets Mauro Bacchini, CEO of Cargo
What are the trends of modern living?
Living is a fundamental part of our lives: home welcomes us, reflects us, speaks of us. Talking about trends is reductive, as it is a very personal and subjective experience. For this reason, we have always offered furnishings and accessories that go beyond the trends of the moment, to write the story of a life and become an integral part of everyday life. The search for forms, materials, and solutions that combine aesthetics and functionality distinguishes our proposal. A quality sofa accompanies everyday life, sees a family grow, follows us through moves. Essentialness, practicality, and originality go beyond trends, to last over time.
How did your company start and what are your strengths?
High-Tech was born in Milan in 1982, out of curiosity and the desire to bring furnishings and accessories initially borrowed mostly from the American industrial world and unexpected contexts into living spaces. In 2001, Cargo was born, which for the first time brought antique Chinese furniture and curiosities from around the world into the homes of Milanese and beyond. Today, the search for the unusual and the unexpected continues, with the aim of generating amazement and familiarity with furnishings and objects that have stories to tell and become part of the lives of those who possess them. From the beginning, the beating heart of our business has been curiosity combined with creativity: research, design, love for what we do. This is also how the Cargo Collection was born, furnishing pieces and everyday objects designed in collaboration with designers, artisans, and artists.
What will be the new products that Cargo Milano will present at the next edition of Milano Home?
The Cargo Collection will be the protagonist of Cargo's presentation at Milano Home. The idea is that beauty can cover and permeate the gestures of everyday life, that art can be applied to unexpected objects and surfaces: the good life is born from small things. Our design studio, together with graphic designers and artists, has created a collection of furnishings and objects that combine decoration, craftsmanship, and Made in Italy, the result of research and passion.
What characteristics must the products of the companies you select for your store have, mainly from which countries do they come from, which are the most requested brands and what do they produce?
The heart of our proposal is furnishings and objects that we design and produce directly, with the Cargo brand. Around these, we try to create a mood and a world consistent with our idea of living. We therefore select brands and products that do not follow the trends of the moment but that have a solid research history behind them, a story to tell, and a function in everyday life. We collaborate with artisans and companies in Italy, Europe, and the world, all united by quality, attention to materials and production processes, curiosity, creativity, and research.
