Interview with Andrea Toscani, Marketing Director of Coltellerie Berti
What new products did you present at this edition of Milano Home?
At Milano Home, we presented a collection of accessories dedicated to table service. This includes a system for serving Florentine steak, a set for cutting pandoro and panettone, already on sale since December, and a collection of cutting boards. All these products combine wood and ceramics with our traditional knife production. Additionally, we introduced some new carving sets, including one made in only 130 numbered pieces as a celebratory item for the company's 130th anniversary.
What are the values and characteristics that distinguish your products?
The Artisan Spirit has always been the foundation of every Berti knife creation, and almost all our products are made by the hands of a single artisan. The person who starts it finishes it and signs it with their initials, declaring its value. This means that one person takes care of every phase of the process, giving each piece uniqueness and soul[PF1] . This is the essence of the Berti family's artisanal method, which has kept alive the joy of owning a true artisanal knife in the most authentic tradition since 1895.
How did your company start, and what are your strengths?
In 2025, Coltellerie Berti celebrates an extraordinary milestone: 130 years of history, passion, and artisanal mastery. Founded in 1895 in Scarperia, a Tuscan village known for its centuries-old tradition in knife making, the company has become a symbol of Italian excellence worldwide. For five generations, after David came Severino, then Alvaro, and now Andrea with Lorenzo and Tommaso, Coltellerie Berti has managed to combine respect for ancient artisanal techniques with innovation, maintaining the value of authenticity. With the same passion as always, Coltellerie Berti looks to the future, ready to write new chapters of this extraordinary adventure, never forgetting the roots that made it great.
What is your relationship with retail stores or e-commerce, how important are they, and what is the added value for retailers to have your brand in their store?
The retail world represents our main distribution channel. In this era where online sales are increasingly developing, perceiving the high quality of each of our knives is still a priority, which is why we recommend purchasing in a physical store. Whether for personal use or as a gift, perhaps one of our gift boxes, these are items that deserve to be seen, touched and, not least, explained by professionals who can advise and support in the choice. Our products can be purchased in the best home goods stores, both in Italy and abroad. Coltellerie Berti is a symbol of Italian artisanal excellence. We believe that for retailers, it can represent an opportunity for differentiation and, at the same time, an attraction for all those customers looking for high-quality items made in Italy that carry a story with them.
